I was intending to have Vietnamese for lunch, but saw this spot I had
never visited at Beltline and Josey - in the strip shopping center that
has the Cici's in it. Colombian food.
I had the smaller of the two options of Bandeja Paisa to get a little
taste of everything, easily still plenty for lunch. It was a good,
hearty meal, which included:
-White rice and kidney beans - simple, hearty and very good
-Fried pork skin - I enjoyed the meat attached, not so much on the skin
itself
-Spanish sausage - very good - had a nice season to it and a cool yellow
color inside (saffron?)
-Steak, egg, avocado - all what they say they are - unadorned and
needing no real adornment
-Sweet plantain - very good - nice caramelized char on the outside
-Grilled corn cake - again, simplicity rules - nice texture
The meal also came with two small bowls of a salsa-ish concoction. Both
were seemingly vinegar with green onion, tomato and a few herbs. The
red version was great on the beans and rice, though pungent. The
lighter version did not really suit my taste, as the vinegar was just
too much.
Overall, a really good meal. I will probably return and try some of the
other specialties. website: www.casaviejadallas.com
