Share with us the best place you've ever eaten and why it was. This one
is subjective, obviously, because everyone's taste is not the same. Be
fair and be honest.

I can't pick just one -- it'd have to be based on cuisine types.

For Mexican food, I can't manage to find a place I like more than Tupinamba
located on Inwood road just north of Forest. That is pretty much the gold
standard for Tex-Mex for me. The food is great, the service is always on
top, and they mix a good drink too.

For Italian, I have a hard time finding a place I like more than TWo Guys
from Italy located on Webbs Chapel just south of Forest Lane. It's a
traditional Italian polace, with the right mix of atmosphere and food, and
they obviously use their grandmothers' ideas about portion size, because I
always wind up taking a box home for later.

I found an amazing place in San Juan, PR when I was there for Caribbean food
called Aujili Mojili. The service was great and the food amazing.

I used to be a huge Snuffer's fan for burgers, but then they scaled back the
garlic salt and changed their buns, so it's dropped behind Cool Beans
located on Hicory just east of Fry in DEnton as my top burger. Good burgers
with good service and they're inexpensive -- I can get out of there with a
burger and fries and a drink for under five bucks.

For a good New Orleans style breakfast I'm extremely partial to The Quarter
Scene, located at the corner of Dauphin and Dumaine in the French Quarter.
They have the absolutely best corend beef hash I've ever had, and they do a
great omlette. Plus it's not packed to the armpits with tourists and they
serve more than coffee and nasty little pseudo-donuts.

For German I had a very good experience at EdelWeiss in Ft. Worth on CAmp
Bowie, even though the owner was singing a lot of Elvis Polkas with the
band. The food was great and there was a lot of it.

Used to love going to Edelweiss but the last time, the prices were much
higher than previous visits. A little Elvis polka goes a long, long way.
Love Berndt to death but traditional German music is just fine, thanks.

Three runners-up:

The American Legion Post restaurant at Amador, Panama Canal
Zone. Just a lot of fine memories, and inexpensive enough
that even a kid like me could order lobster without his dad
putting the stink-eye on him.

The Capri in Panama City, Panama. First taste of steamed
clams, and of rum cake, when I was (I think) seven or eight
years old.

Nana Grill in Dallas. Absolutely amazing and inspired food.
The wasabi sorbet surprised the heck out of me.
