Cheddar's - burger disaster

Since burger talk seems to be current around here, allow me to share the
following warning.

Avoid Cheddar's at all costs.

Now Cheddar's USED to have a pretty damn good burger. But, the other
night, my son wanted a mushroom burger (which in the past we've always
enjoyed) so we decided to stop in to the new McKinney Stacey Rd. location.

Well, now you can only order the burgers cooked medium-well or
well-done. No amount of protestation matters. I am no fan of
medium-well, but figure I'll give it a try. This thing was nasty.
Overcooked, moistureless, flavorless, joyless shoe leather. This would
have tasted better if they had simply thrown the patty in the trash.

The next night, we were on the prowl for a rebound burger. We stopped
into Chili's after noticing they'd recently re-redone their burger menu.
For a few months they really screwed their menu up - inexplicably so,
removing old favorites for some oddball assembly line style burger
ordering mechanism. Well, the old favorites are back, and taste VERY
good. We ordered medium rare mushroom burgers and were rewarded with a
very pink, juicy, flavorful burger.

Cheddar's - you're blowing it.

P.S. Another oddball - they are now serving EDAMAME with kids meals.
What. The. EFF??? What kind of sexually uptight overwrought fishwife is
going to order ginger soaked soybeans for their kids' meal? If the
Menendez brothers could have showed proof they experienced this, they
would have gotten off with justifiable homicide...

This surprises and pleases me. The last time I ordered a burger
at Chili's - again, some years ago - I asked for it medium-rare,
and was told to fuck off. [1] Short on time and options, I pleaded
that it at least be broiled/grilled to the lower end of the medium-
well - well-done range that they would agree to, but it came
out dry and tasteless.

I guess I'll go back and try again.
